Synopsis:
Anything’s possible under a prairie sky…
Riley Thomas is feeling stuck—she’s moved from California to Nebraska, she’s on a weeklong Oregon Trail family bonding excursion, and her luggage is lost. There’s no one her age on the trip except a tall, dark and irksome cowboy who wrongly assumes she has zero ability to handle the great outdoors. She can’t wait for this misery to end—even though going “home” isn’t even possible anymore.
Lone wolf Colton Walker loves the simpler life of the plains and his family’s tourism business that helps protect them. He’s a stand-up guy—not a love ‘em and leave ‘em type like his rival, Jake. And he knows better than to take his chances with a prairie princess like Riley.
But Riley’s got more sense than Colton thinks—and he’s not nearly as inflexible as he seems. And under a wide prairie sky of puffy clouds and bright stars, everything comes into focus—including a cowboy’s heart.
Near Misses & Cowboy Kisses ~ Review
Are you looking for a romance with cute cowboys, witty banter, and a connection you just can’t deny? Well, I’ve got you covered.
Near Misses and Cowboy Kisses is everything you want, wrapped up with a bow.
I picked up this book because the title and cover intrigued me, and after finding out it was clean, I ran to the library on the spot. And this book did not let me down. It was probably my favourite romance I’ve read in a while.
First things first, we need to talk about the guy. Hehehe. This book has two POVs, which I am so happy about because it’s one of my favourite things a romance book can do. You don’t just get the girl’s side of the story, you get his as well, and it makes the romance so much better.
The cowboy, Colton, is an amazing love interest. He’s tall, dark, and irksome, as Riley loves to call him, but he turns into such a gentleman. Not to mention the romance is… Rivals to Lovers!!! Ahhhhhh.
This book had everything that makes a great romance. So dig in.
The setting is amazing too. The author never bombards you with details, but she still takes the time to immerse you in the beautiful surroundings. She also uses the factors that come with the wild outdoors perfectly: mud (you’ll understand if you read it), raccoons (once again, it will all make sense), and gorgeous prairie sunrises.
The writing style was fantastic as well. Easy to read, the perfect amount of humour, and each character’s voice was written so well. I could not put this book down, and it left me smiling every single time I set it aside.
One of the things I loved most was that this book is clean. Just kissing and only a few mild swear words scattered throughout. There is one character who is a bit inappropriate at times, but he mostly just brings humour to the story.
I would recommend this book for ages 12 and up.
Overall, this is an amazing read and I loved it so much. I was thrilled to find a well written, clean but never boring cowboy romance. I just know you’ll love it as much as I did if you give it a try!
So saddle up and get ready for the ride of a lifetime. (Do you see what I did there! Haha)
Happy Reading,
Ava
